It is not much of Dodge’s marketing forte to advertise a brand new minivan as being very affordable for families. However, with their latest 2017 Dodge Journey, they are doing the same. This is probably one of the lowest priced in its category. Apart from that, its design has been completely revamped to reflect a modern look.
Being a conventional 7-seats crossover minivan, this new model of Dodge Journey performs fairly decent in terms of safety and fuel economy. Its engine choices are surprising as well, considering its vehicle class. This 2017 model comes from their latest generation of Dodge Journey.
2017 Dodge Journey Engine Choices
2017 Dodge Journey offers its conventional 2 different engine setup when it comes to its powertrain specs. It has not made any upgrades when it comes to their engine line-up. All models of this vehicle run in its standard power unit, except for its top GT trim that features a new engine choice as default.
Its base engine model comprises of a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder setup that offers a decent power output. Expect a power output of around 173 HP and a torque output of 166 lb-ft.
For its top tier 2017 Dodge Journey GT trim, a brand new 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine is available as default. It offers an all-wheel drive configuration and can generate 283 HP of max power, as well as around 260 lbs.-feet of max torque.
Performance and Fuel Economy
2017 Journey offers its original 4-speed automatic transmission with its base engine model, along with a front wheel drive train configuration. Its top tier GT model comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, with a complete all-wheel drive spec.
As far as fuel economy figures are concerned, 3 different layout combinations offer different EPA ratings:
Its base engine in front-wheel drive and 4-speed gearbox rates at 19 MPG in city drive, 25 in highway and 21 in combined setup.
With all-wheel drive layout and 6-speed gearbox, these figures go down to 17 MPG for city drive, 25 MPG for highway and 19 in combined setup.
For its top tier V6 Pentastar engine, the EPA figures round off to 16 MPG for city drive, 24 MPG for highway and 19 in combined setup.
2017 Dodge Journey has brought about some significant changes in its interior design, but its exterior look has not been upgraded significantly. While its exterior body layout has undergone some changes to improve its stability and aerodynamic cover, major interior changes include:
