2017 Ford EcoSport Turns Heads with Competitive Features and a New Facelift

When it comes to compact SUVs, Ford knows what they are doing. With their latest 2017 Ford EcoSport, this company has once again proven why they are so popular in this category. This new model from EcoSport franchise made its debut at the 2017 LA Auto Show.

It will feature several new upgrades to its exterior design, coupled with multiple trim options and a diverse range of engine choices. There has not been much discussion about its optional list of equipment and additional features that will be released in upcoming months of 2017.

Available Trims

Ford EcoSport 2017 will be offered in several multiple trim options to its customers. Each trim will get the choice for engine as well: Ambiente, Trend, Trend+. Also Titanium, Titanium+, and Titanium AT.

Engine Options

2017 Ford EcoSport has already announced the engine line-up for buyers. This model will feature 3 different types of engine choices:

Its base engine comprises of a 1.5-liter Ti VCT gasoline unit that can generate around 112 HP of max power, coupled with 103 lb-ft of max torque.

2nd engine is available with consists of a 1.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine that can offer 125 lb-ft of max torque, along with 126 HP of max power.

3rd alternative is present for Diesel fans, with a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel unit that can produce 100 HP of max power, along with 151 lb-ft of max torque.

Performance and Fuel Economy

As a standard option, 2017 Ford EcoSport will feature its 5-speed manual transmission setup for all engines. However, customers have a secondary choice when it comes to its base engine. A 6-speed DCT gearbox is also available as an option.

Fuel economy rates look pretty decent when it comes to compact SUVs. Its base engine offers a combined figure of 37 MPG, while its EcoBoost engine offers around 44 MPG. Its diesel power train estimates 53 MPG for combined drive, while its 6-speed automatic transmission improves its base engine estimates to 39 MPG.

Design Changes

The most prominent change that customers can see in this new Ford EcoSport is its modified front fascia. Taking hints from Ford Edge, this model has revamped its front fascia, adding new hood design, modified fenders and new headlamps.  Its rear part has not been modified as such, except for a new bumper design.

Additional interior changes include:

  • Modified dashboard configuration with brand new instrumentation.
  • Better and updated SYNC infotainment module with multi-information display features.
  • Multi-function steering controls with automatic climate control options.
  • Higher trims come with a touch screen module for infotainment.

2017 Ford EcoSport will span a large price range due to multiple trim models and 3 different engine options. While its base Ambiente trim starts off at $22,000 for its 1.5-liter engine, it goes up to $27,500 for its Titanium AT trim. As of its release date, experts suggest that all models are likely to come out by the second quarter of 2017.
