2017 Jeep Cherokee Refinement is Made a Standard

The all-new 2017 Jeep Cherokee is a recast of its hardcore sport-utility roots and has now turned into something much broader and capable. This Cherokee is one rare vehicle that has broken free from Jeep’s traditional styling as it is developed to cater modern family needs.

With 2017 generation change, this new Jeep Cherokee brings forth redefined styling and some touch-ups in the overall performance. So here’s a brief look at what the new Cherokee brings on the table.

Changes in the Performance

Jeep Cherokee is a spin off from the same running gear found in Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart, so, expect its off-road performance to be certainly impressive. This time, 2017 Jeep Cherokee gets 2 different engine options, a 2.4-liter inline 4 and a 3.2-liter V6 units.

The first engine option; 2.4-liter inline 4 mill makes this new Cherokee a perfect commuter vehicle. Outputs delivered by this power unit go as 184 HP and 171 lb-ft. Experts say that this unit is by far the best sounding Chrysler 4-cylinder engine in a long time. And this engine appears great on acceleration figures as 0 to 60 mph is achieved in about 8 seconds.

Chrysler is something of an outsider too as most of its rivals having been dropping the V6. The optional 3.2-liter V6 churns out an impressive 271 HP and 239 lb-ft of torque. This meaty power makes up for towing capacity to check at nearly 4,000 pounds.

With either engine, there a standard 9-speed automatic transmission which has a lower first gear for quick takeoffs. In other respects, this new Cherokee feels responsive and pleasant on driving. As far as fuel economy is concerned, the figures stay close to 21 mpg in city, 30 mpg on highways and 25 mpg on a combined basis.

Trim Selections

This new 2017 Jeep Cherokee doesn’t offer just 1 or 2 trim selections but a whole 8 of them. These trims include 2017 Jeep Cherokee Overland, 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, Limited, High Altitude Limited Edition, Latitude, Sport, Sport Altitude Limited Edition and 75th Anniversary Limited Edition.

2017 Jeep Cherokee  Exterior and Interior

The design of Jeep Cherokee has evolved all by itself. This model’s exterior styling doesn’t follow any ongoing market trends (which is not a bad thing either). This time, its front fascia is refreshed with mesh pattern inside its vertical 7 slat grille. The front bumper also has taken a wave of change as it features dynamic moldings.

Although the headlights retain the old shape, they now incorporate flowing clusters of LED daytime running lights in the topmost section. Thick and bulky plastic claddings on the body edges and bumper also characterize sportiness to a certain extent.

Changes are prominent in the interior cabin as well. The nicest feature of this cabin is that it allows opening up of extra cargo space as the rear seats are 60/40 split foldable and front passenger seat is the old flat type.
