Reports now confirm that this model is headed to hit the dealerships by the second half of 2017. Mitsubishi might launch this SUV in selected markets. That is offered in the Middle East, South East Asia, Russia, Latin America, Australia and Africa. Improved performance is the biggest change where 2017 Mitsubishi Montero Sport gets the spotlight. Like most Mitsubishi SUVs, this new Montero Sport gets 2 engine options – the 3.0-liter V6 and a 2.4-liter diesel burner.
The base engine is suspected to be a 3.0-liter V6 variant which is capable of producing a power of 415 HP and 385 lb-ft of torque. With this powerhouse under its hood, the new generation Montero Sport might be able to pull 0 to 60 mph sprint in about 7 seconds. This acceleration would be an impressive leap for a full-sized SUV.
The 2.4-liter diesel mill is put out as optional. Although the capabilities of this engine are not disclosed, it might go on to produce 295 HP of power and 310 lb-ft of torque. Standard features would include a dual-zone climate control, black piano inserts in the door panels and telescopic multi-functioning steering wheel.
As to safety, this SUV is suspected of bringing the all-new ‘misacceleration’ mitigation system which detects obstructions by ultrasonic sensors and counter acts with pressure put on accelerator by the driver. Other features include blind spot monitoring, forward collision alert, parking sensors, roll-over protection, traction and stability control.
Price and Competition
2017 Mitsubishi Montero Sport also expected to come with a starting price of around $49,000.
