Here’s one of the biggest and brawniest SUV known to global markets – Nissan Armada. Now entering a second generation as 2017 Nissan Armada, this new SUV is upscale with styling and performance, yet doesn’t let go of the body-on-frame construction.
Another thing that has remained unchanged in Nissan Armada 2017 is the 5.6-liter DOHC 32 valve V8 engine. But that being said, Nissan has tuned this engine as its output goes 390 HP at 5,800 RPM and 394 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 RPM.
A 7-speed automatic transmission offers two drive modes – Tow and Haul. This engine also mates to an all-wheel drive (with 2-speed transfer case). As there’s availability of FWD, fuel economy vary accordingly –
- AWD (4×4) – 13 mpg city, 18 mpg highway and 17 mpg combined
- FWD (4×2) – 14 mpg city, 19 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined
2017 Nissan Armada Exterior Design
Design wise, this new Nissan Armada 2017 inherits the looks of its predecessor while flaunting modern design elements. The front fascia looks handsome with a redesigned grille. Also reworked are the headlights which are divided into 3 clusters – HID projectors, LED daytime running lights and turn signals.
The front bumper conveys a materialistic appeal as the large air intake wears horizontal slats and is enclosed by a rugged skid plate. Up top, the hood has aggressive creases on each side which drift towards the windshield.
This SUV’s side body is oblong (but in a stylistic way). Both (front and rear) wheel arches protrude from the body and wear clean plastic cladding. The C and D pillars stretch to create an almost upright rear fascia.
Inside, the interior cabin is a luxury lounge. The 2017 Nissan Armada interior offers a comfortable seating for 7 and ample amount of cargo space – 95.1 cubic feet. Although the wheelbase of 2017 Nissan Armada is shorter than the current model, it sits lower up to 2.2 inches which generates a good amount of headroom.
This reworked cabin is much quieter too as it is built out of sound insulating materials. The front side windows and windshield use acoustic glass to deliver what Nissan calls “library levels” of noise insulation. Some of the premium features of this cabin include – 13-speaker Bose surround sound, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear DVD entertainment and a power sunroof.
Safety also is a high priority on this new Nissan Armada. Available safety technologies include:
- Backup collision prevention
- Forward collision warning
- Rear-view camera (with park assist)
- Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS)
- Zone body construction
- Energy absorbing steering column
- Vehicle Dynamic Control (with Traction Control System)
