The Swedish auto-giants have bought back their legacy; 2017 Volvo XC90. Apart from versatile trims including T5 R-Design, T6 Excellence, T6 Inscription and T6 R-Design, this new model brings forth a new base model called the 2017 Volvo XC90 T5 Momentum.
A 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine breathes life in Volvo XC90 2017. This gasoline burner powers all the trims with 258 lb-ft of torque ranging at 1,500 to 4,800 RPM and 250 HP at 5,500 RPM. These output figures increase to 316 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque in T6 models. Every trim comes standard with an all-wheel drive except the base model which utilizes a front-wheel drive. An 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission is the sole option in all models.
Fuel economy has seen improvements and the figures go:
- FWD – 22 mpg city/ 26 mpg highway/ 24 mpg combined
- AWD – 22 mpg city/ 25 mpg highway/ 23 mpg combined
Max towing capacity checks at 4,000 lbs.
2017 Volvo XC90 keeps its iconic exterior styling intact (for it’s the one thing that has contributed to its success over the years). Going specific, the grille looks more pronounced and sophisticated as it wears a satin chrome finish.
As part of Volvo’s signature styling, the grille is composed and doesn’t go overboard on the front fascia (as is the case in Lexus crossovers). Sitting astride to this grille are two funky headlights which integrate the iconic ‘Thor’s hammer’ styling. Lower fascia is a fascination too, as the air intake housings integrate chrome finishers. The measurement for exterior dimension goes:
- Length – 194.9 inches
- Height – 69.9 inches
- Width – 84.3 inches
- Wheelbase – 117.5 inches
Refinements have been done in the rear fascia as well. The taillights aggressively advance towards the rear overhang and pretty much dominates the tailgate. The rear bumper has increased in size and 2 chrome quad exhaust tips protrude slightly. The side body features chrome trim which matches strikingly with the window panel’s metallic highlights.
2017 Volvo XC90 Interior
A world class luxury and sophistication is what the interior cabin of Volvo XC90 is all about. Embellishment on this cabin is done by genuine wood and chrome trims which are sustained in the lower dashboard, door panels and center console.
Likewise, the glove box section, lower door panels and central armrest wear soft touch materials. The seats boats utmost comfort as they are heavily bolstered, perforated and leather trimmed. Revisions have been done on the AC vents too as they now integrate chrome finishers.
Volvo XC90 2017 does well and good on safety too as it incorporates an array of standard features that are all part of IntelliSafe. Some of these features include:
- Blind Spot Detection
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Airbag Occupancy Sensor
- Back-Up Camera
- Dual-stage Driver and Passenger Airbag
- Low Tire Pressure Warning
- Lane Departure Warning
- Volvo On-Call Emergency SOS
