‘Manufactured in China sold in the United States’. This is what defines the Buick Envision. It is a perfect blend between Buick’s smaller Encore and larger Enclave. It aims to hit that sweet spot in the crossover industry. The 2017 variant was released in a hurry in an attempt to lock down its competitors. But this time GM is taking its time to redesign the 2018 Buick Envision. A greater insight will clear some more doubts.
2018 Buick Envision Specs and Design
While its 2017 variant sported only a single 2.0 L LTG turbo four cylinder engine trim, the new Envision will likely get an additional 2.5 L 4 cylinder engine as well. The 2.0 L could churn out 197 HP and 197 lb-ft as its peak values. The upgraded powertrain will produce 252 HP of power along with 260 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration is leisurely, and EPA ratings stand at 22 mpg in cities and 29 mpg on highways.
This power output demands an analysis of its size. 2018 Buick Envision can be considered to be ideally compact – its wheelbase measures 107.9 inches. It exceeds Acura RDX or Lincoln MKC by a couple of inches but is less than the Volvo XC60 or Audi Q5. Envision will opt for standard Buick family waterfall grille with central logo placement.
Body colored bumpers will house a couple of large air intakes at the bottom. There are large rounded fog lamps engraved with cutting edge designs. Wider wheel arches go with those high raised roof rails which synchronize well with the sloping roof design of Buick Envision 2018. Projector headlights and LED tail lights come as standard with Buick introducing day time running lights just as well. GM puts on 18-inch wheels with those 60 series tires which are all weather and all terrain compatible.
Envision will continue to be a 4 door crossover capable of seating five people. The passengers will be treated to French-stitched, leather-appointed seats as Buick’s trademark design along with eye soothing ice blue ambient lighting. 2018 Buick Envision gifts its driver with a three-spoke steering wheel with heating facilities and has an array of in house controls. The dash has got wooden touch which house a 7-inch diagonal touch screen. It also has Apple Car Play and Android Auto sync inbuilt. Music lovers are entertained by a 6 speaker surround sound system while one can also make hands free calls with Siri.
2018 Envision Features
With all these features Buick does not compromise on safety. Its safety inventory includes forward distance calculator, and forward collision alert. There is front automatic braking as standard features. Higher trims will get Passenger Sensing System, Front and Rear Ultrasonic Park Assist, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Buick Envision 2018 makes city driving much safer with Low Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, All Round Surveillance cameras.
Sandwiched between Encore and Enclave , 2018 Buick Envision will likely face tough competition from Acura RDX and Volvo XC 60. It is expected to receive a base price tag of $42,000 as per sources and will hit world market by mid-2018, to say the least.
