Built on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, updates of a completely modified Dodge Durango is still in question. The 2018 Dodge Durango can either be a reformed version of the current 2010 model or a complete makeover. The leaked images of the new Durango, however, promise a facelift resembling the SRT.
This new vehicle is supposed to get a new modified hood, body panels and new allow heels. It is also speculated that Durango might get a 6.4 liters turbocharged Hellcat engine or a powerful 6.4 liters V8 borrowed from Cherokee. Whatever be its specifications, this new Durango still aims to hold its position as a high performance SUV.
Dodge has been long working on new versions of the Durango. Those including a concept and hellcat versions with high performance engines and superb looks. The different trims that are expected:
- Durango Citadel
- Durango R/T
- Durango SRT
- Durango Hellcat
2018 Dodge Durango-Engine and powertrain
The base model of Durango will probably house a 3.6 liters V6 producing 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This will be managed by an 8 speed transmission. According to latest rumors that arise, Dodge has been working on a Dodge SRT. The powerful engine will be 6.4 liters V8 which will be coupled with an 8-speed transmission. New 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is equipped with just that engine with 475 hp.
Yet another rumor is of the opinion that 6.2 liters V8 might also be added. In addition, 5.7 liters V8 Hemi producing 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque can also be expected. Dodge promises an overall superior performance along with better fuel consumption.
In lieu of recent hardships that FCA corporations are going through at present, it might not include too many significant changes in the exterior as well as interior designing the new Durango. In addition to the small facelift, Durango will retain the original chrome Dodge mask.
In order to let the powerful engine function with ease, cooling vents will be installed on its rumored new bumpers. LED front headlamps will be coupled by LED strip located till just above the front bumpers. Rear tail lamps look sportier and are stretched along the entire length of the vehicle’s rear.
Though Dodge has not confirmed the transformation of Durango’s front fascia. Its upper and lower grilles might be re worked. New Durango 2018 is also expected to be designed with 20 inch alloys and improved aerodynamics for improved performance.
Dodge Durango 2018 will have a large cabin providing ample comfort to the driver and the passengers alike. Both rear and front seats are adjustable as required and coated with high quality leather. A range of technological installations are likely to be seen as well including a high resolution touch screen to ensure entertainment and communication. In terms of safety, semi-automatic emergency brakes are expected to be included.
Pricing and Release Date
Keeping in mind the host of changes that are expected to be seen in this new 2018 Dodge Durango, it’s expected to release by end of 2017 or even early 2018. Pricing is not yet decided but its base price is expected to be around $30,000.
