GMC Acadia, a mid-sized crossover was launched by General Motors back in 2007 and has been in its first generation for a decade now. A second generation was started in 2016 with the launch of a 2017 model, Now a newer version will make its way to the market as the 2018 GMC Acadia. This new crossover for GMC will have to compete with the likes of Kia Sorento, Land Rover Defender and Nissan Qashqai.
The engine in the new 2018 GMC Acadia will not be too different from that in its current version. The base SL version will have a 2.5 L inline 4 cylinder engine. This is supposed to have a power output of 195 horsepower while the torque should be around 190 lb-ft.
Models higher up the range will house a 3.6 L V6 which will enable the GMC Acadia 2018 to have a power output of 310 horsepower with 271 lb-ft of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox will be the standard for all models along with a front wheel drive platform. However, an option for an all wheel drive platform will be provided for higher price.
Fuel efficiency will decrease a tad bit. |The current versions manage 20 mpg and 26 mpg in city and highway respectively.The GMC Acadia 2018 will be able to provide 19 mpg and 25 mpg for city and highway.
2018 GMC Acadia Design and Features
GMC Acadia 2018 is based on the GM Lambda Platform. That basically means that this vehicle will be lighter and less bulky from its rivals as well as its predecessors. Metals like magnesium and aluminium have been used substantially thereby allowing it shed as much as 700 pounds from its previous version.
Rumors suggest that the grille on the front will see an increase in size. Although as far as dimensions are concerned, the length of the vehicle will be lesser than its last model. LED headlights will incorporate fog lamps. 20-inch aluminium alloy wheels will be the standard carriers.
There will be four main variants of 2018 GMC Acadia – SL, SLT, SLE and Denali. Each of these will have its own set of features, especially when it comes to the interiors. However, each trim is expected to come with keyless entry facilitated by a remote. There are fold flat seating and 3 rows of seats for 7 passengers, all of which will be leather-covered.
New age features like 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, a rear-view camera for parking assist and anti-lock braking system will be available in the higher range variants. But expect active noise cancellation to be present in every model. It will help the passengers experience a calm and quiet ride.
Price and expected arrival
For the SL model, the base model, price will be at least $32,000. But for the Denali model with an all-wheel drive, investment of around $50,000 is necessary. For a mid-sized luxury crossover SUV, this is an apt price tag. Customers of this niche will be looking forward to its release. Expect the 2018 GMC Acadia to arrive at showrooms by the second quarter of 2018.
