2018 Hyundai Creta Review New Launch in India and Brazil


Creta is Hyundai’s entry into the compact SUV section. Also known as Hyundai ix25 in China and Hyundai Cantus in the Dominican Republic, it has been a huge since its launch in 2015 especially in India. 2018 Hyundai Creta will see a facelift of Hyundai’s popular compact SUV.

2018 Hyundai Creta is designed based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2 design concept. The Hyundai-Kia platform supports this compact SUV just like the Kia Soul, Hyundai i30 and Hyundai Elantra. Its edgy design makes this new Creta look like a smaller version of the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

It will sport a hexagonal front grille and an improved fender design. The vehicle’s forward leaning design adds elegance to its rugged exterior. LED lighting technology has been used for the headlamps, tail-lights and the fog lights. Earlier versions of Creta had an innovative vertical fog lights. The 2018 model however has been designed with side to side fog light placement on the front fascia. Tail-lights have also been redesigned. Multiple tail-lights have been stacked horizontally which gives an Europen touch to the rear of the vehicle. Roof-rails and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels complete the brilliance of the Creta’s designs.

Interior and Safety

2018 Hyundai Creta gets a sporty look with black interiors. Premium quality leather on upholstery and well toned plastic parts has been used in the interiors. The console and dashboard have simple layout for friendly user experience, dominated by a 7-inch touchscreen which comes loaded with different infotainment controls like Bluetooth support, USB ports, navigation, satellite radio and other stuff. Drivers will enjoy the cabin acoustics courtesy a 6 speaker audio system. Top trim should also have on board memory of 1 GB. The steering wheel will have multi-function controls like volume, power window, indicator controls.

Other features include: automatic headlamps and wipers,  rear armrest for comfort,  advanced climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry and start-top button.  The new Hyundai Creta 2018 has all possible safety controls like Anti lock Braking Systems, best in class 6 airbags, rear view camera, and parking assist.

Engine

2018 Hyundai Creta is mainly designed for Indian and Brazilian roads. As such, it is likely to have three variants of engine as in the previous model.  1.6 L dual VTVT gasoline engine backed by a 6 speed manual or an optional 6 speed CVT automatic transmission. Output power of 123 HP and torque of 111 lb ft. Expected efficiency is 35 mpg on highway. 1.4 CRDi diesel engine with power output of 90 HP and 162 lb ft torque and an efficiency of 48 mpg. 1.6 CRDi VGT diesel engine with manual transmission gear and an optional automatic transmission. Engine should have an efficiency of 46 mpg on manual transmission mode and 40 mpg while on automatic transmission.

The all new Creta will be launched first in Brazil in the late quarter of 2017 followed by a early 2018 launch in India. Pricing of the gasoline trim is expected to start at $15,000 while the top end diesel variant would cost around $22,515. A tough design and high performing engine sets the Creta in contest with Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Honda BR-V.
