South Korean car makers Hyundai are preparing for the launch of the new version of one of their favourite SUVs – Santa Fe. The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, which is expected to be out within mid 2017, is a renewed version of the hugely popular vehicle. Despite its criticism in Asian markets, it was a huge hit among American customers.
Launched in 2001, this SUV has been retouched and redesigned in every year up until 2013, before undergoing a long awaited facelift very recently in 2016. For year 2018, Hyundai have high hopes for this luxury SUV, as it looks to compete with Ford Escape, Honda Pilot or Toyota’s Highlander.
2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport powertrain
Under its hood, the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is expected to house a 2.4 L four cylinder producing a power output of 185 HP and 178 lb-ft. torque, which will be available on its base versions.
Or in case you need an upgrade, a 2.0 L 4-cylinder turbocharged cylinder will also be made available. That why this Hyundai SUV will enable to produce an output of 240 HP and a torque of 260 lb-ft.
Both these engines will be available in 6 speed automatic transmission in Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2018 model. All wheel drive and front wheel drive will be available as options while a towing capacity of 2000 pounds is expected. Fuel economy is pegged at 19 mpg in city while 24 mpg on highway.
Redesign and new features of 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
Aggressive styling has been done on Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2018 model with a hexagonal grille in front. New LED lights that can incorporate fog lamps have been put into the vehicle. Both bumpers on the front and back have been modified while tail lights have been reshaped. Wheel layouts of different variations – 17, 18 and 19 inch, are being provided by Hyundai for this vehicle.
In terms of dimensions, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2018 is 185 inches long and affords quite a bit of room. Cargo space is 35.5 cubic feet, which is quite substantial if compared to its competitors in this segment. 5 passengers can sit comfortably in this SUV. A new upgraded Hyundai Bluelink infotainment system has been put into the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. It has an 8 inch touchscreen which acts as the command centre.
The SUV even has an option for a panoramic sunroof which is another attraction on the interiors. Multiple view camera for parking assistance as well as emergency braking system also makes it safer than its rivals.
What could be the price?
Considering the fact that 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is one of Hyundai’s best-selling vehicles, the automakers will be mindful not to upset its popularity. Base models will reportedly be available at a little over $26,000.
Higher up the range with features like all-wheel drive, price could be as high as $40,000. To attract customers, Hyundai is planning to even arrange for cash back and zero per cent financing deals.
