As the competition in the compact crossover SUV segment is becoming increasingly tough, automakers like Jeep are but left with the option of presenting out annual life cycle refreshment. Likewise, Jeep’s iconic compact SUV, Patriot is up for refreshment as 2018 Jeep Patriot.
Like the previous generation model, Jeep Patriot 2018 is expected to offer 4 different trims for catering a versatile performance. These trims putting out different driving flavors include – Sport, Sport SE, Latitude and High Altitude. Likewise, pricing will vary accordingly and the base model (Sport) is expected to come with a starting price of 19,000.
2018 Jeep Patriot is reported to offer a high degree of off-road capability as compared to its predecessor. This time, a 2.0 L 4 cylinder engine will come as the base option and is suspected of producing outputs of more than 163 HP and 175 lb-ft torque. Also, fuel economy will see improvements and the new figures are likely to go as 23 mpg in city, 28 mpg on highways and 25 mpg on a combined scale.
Another engine in the option will include a 2.4 L 4 cylinder variant. This power mill will offer the options for both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. The improved power outputs of this engine are suspected of going out as 178 HP and 184 lb-ft torque. Likewise, official EPA ratings are suspected to stay at 22 mpg city/27 mpg highway/26 mpg combined.
2018 Jeep Patriot Exterior and Interior Styling
The exterior styling of this upcoming Jeep Patriot is going to appeal as reminiscent of Jeep’s good old days. Also, subtle touches of modern design elements will make the SUV’s style statement speak for itself.
Up in the front fascia, the signature body-embedded circular headlights will integrate active LED daytime running lights. Like its predecessor, the front fenders will hold a squarish demeanor for presenting a dynamic outlook. The lower fascia will integrate sporty plastic cladding which will continue in the rest of the body. Up top, the roof will get revised utility racks with a matte finish. New 20-inch cast aluminum alloy wheel with all-season tires are expected to come as standard.
Things are expected to remain pretty much the same in the interior cabin of Jeep Patriot 2018. However, the driver’s gauge cluster is supposed to come revised with a contrast bi-spoke needles for better readability. The center console will hold rotary controls to the infotainment system. Speaking of which, the UConnect infotainment system will receive updates as well.
The new-gen Jeep Patriot is suspected to come updated with safety technologies as well. Standard safety features will include rollover protection, stability control, traction control, multi-stage airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and lane departure warning.
Competitors and Launch Date
2018 Patriot replacement is supposed to come out in the dealerships by the end of this year and compete against vehicles like Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, Kia Soul, Mitsubishi Outlander and Subaru Forester.
