This South Korean automaker is likely to come up with the new version of its most popular model. The 2018 Kia Soul. Speculated to be more than a facelift owing to a complete redesign, this subcompact crossover had found its way to almost 147,000 American Families last year.
Why does the design matter?
Kia Soul 2018 is more of a hatchback than an SUV with little increase in ride height and posture. This is what makes this vehicle more of a crossover. With steel unibody design it is likely to receive higher positioned HID headlights and do away with its air vent framework. It will sport a trippy LED tail lamp design.
The body seems to be rounded this time rather than its previous box-like appearance with higher perspective side mirrors. With a down-to-earth look, 2018 Soul looks to trim down its front fenders as well. With 16×6.5 front and rear aluminum wheels, it uses p205/60HR16 tires at both ends while 17-inch and 18-inch wheels come as optional.
With new chrome designs, power sunshade, a moonroof, radio and warmed outside mirrors it is sure to attract people. Owing to its already popular image 2018 Kia Soul is expected to go similar lines as its predecessor. Climate controlled front and rear seats, tailored headrest, full LED moonroof makes it desirable. Push button ignition with panoramic sunroof comes with a 7-inch or 8-inch infotainment system and 5-inch audio control touchscreen system. Along with these are HD Radio, Harman Kardon audio system synced with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay system. Kia Soul 2018 offers 24.2 cubic feet of boot space with second-row seats opened while closing those increases boot space to 61.3 cubic feet.
How much power does it hold inside its hood?
A crossover which drives like a car, Kia Soul 2018 is speculated to have three trims. The base model offers 1.6 liters 130 HP engine with 110 lb-ft of torque while its intermediate and high-end model would possess 2.0 liter 161 HP and 201 HP engines churning out 157 lb-ft and 190 lb-ft or torque respectively. Expect KIA to come up with a 6-speed manual/automatic and 7-speed dual clutch transmission versions.
Fuel economy stands at 31 mpg on highways and 26 mpg in cities and clocks a top speed of 125 mph. Acceleration marks at 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds owing to its light weight.
Does 2018 KIA Soul offer adequate safety?
With a 5-star overall safety rating Kia Soul 2018 promises its passengers a safe journey. All around airbags, 4-wheel ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, electric stability control, daytime running lights and Hill Assist come as standard. Along with these, optional features include Front and Rear Row Tow Hooks, Traction Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Auto-Leveling Headlights, Night Vision and Lane Departure warning.
