Aiming to bridge the gap between Mazda3 and CX-5, the CX-4 fits nicely in the sporty SUV segment. Originally released as a concept car in Frankfurt Auto show, CX-4 is currently being produced and is up for sale in China alone. Typically targeted towards the Q series of Audi, 2018 Mazda CX-4 is expected to make its way to the world market by 2018. Although placed in the luxury SUV segment, this shiny automobile is designed to give it a sportier coupe-like look. Available with same engines as its higher sibling, CX-5, Mazda has also promised to release the vehicle with more engine options for better performance.
Engine and Powertrain
The Mazda CX4 is expected to include a 2.0 liters SkyActive engine capable of producing 155 HP and 150 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful AWD 2.5 SkyActive engine will produce about 184 HP and 185 lb-ft of torque. For the global market, however, the Mazda CX-4 2018 is expected to be released with a 2.2 liters diesel engine expected to produce 147 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque. Optionally the same engine can be boosted to produce 173 HP and 310 lb-ft of torque.
All engine variants will be available with six-speed manual/transmission. Manual transmission aided engine will provide fuel efficiency to the tune of around 36.75 mpg and 37.33 mpg for auto transmission engine. Higher fuel efficiency are expected with 2.5 liters engine with/without i-ELOOP. Macpherson struts and multi-link systems in the front and rear ensure a balanced ride.
2018 Mazda CX-4 Design
With a KODO styled front, the new 2018 Mazda CX-4 has got a shinier grille in the form of a shield with a curved out engine hood. It borrows its frame from Mazda Korea concept, and its grille frame extends into its headlamps.
This sporty Mazda has a more utilitarian appearance with a lower ride height and an overall improvement in the aerodynamics aimed at increasing efficiency.
