2018 Porsche Macan redesign

2018 Porsche Macan sits nicely between its two brothers

Falling between the Cayenne and Panamera, the 2018 Porsche Macan looks more aggressive with smaller proportions. In lieu of the recent tests, it has been found to be sportier with better handling and suspension features. Porsche has introduced new engines for its Macan, designed to perform smoothly even in rougher terrains. In addition to that, more comfortable interiors are intended to provide passengers with maximum comfort.

Macan is currently available in three trims, the GTS, S and Turbo. While the S trim incorporates a sportier look, the Turbo version is meant to provide more powerful drivetrain for a smoother ride. This vehicle will be launched in Malaysia and then to the rest of the world.

2018 Porsche Macan Specifications

The base model Porsche Macan 2018 includes a 2.0 liters turbocharged four cylinder. This is supposed to produce 252 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque.

The Macan S version hosts a 3.0 liters turbocharged V6 which churn out 340 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque.  The top end Turbo will come with 3.6 liters V6 and is expected to produce an excess of 400 HP and 406 lb-ft of torque.  The base model gives a fuel economy of 22 mpg combined while the S trim struggles for a 19 mpg combined. All engine specs are coupled with 7 speed auto transmission. Like its smaller brothers, the new Macan revs up from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. All the versions are AWD and power is transferred to the rear/front wheels in the ratio 70:30 as and when required.

Sharing a typical Porsche look, the new 2018 Porsche Macan will differ less from its current model. Larger 20 inch Lava dark tires are available which will give more stability and the feeling of notoriety that most Porsches carry. No significant changes are expected in the framework although customers can expect a Porsche Macan facelift. A traditional urban Capsicum Pepper look together with stretched LEDs typical to Porsche, adds to it more classy look.

The interior of Porsche Macan 2018 is designed to give a sportier look with cowhide skins and additions on the dashboard. Custom made specially weaved seat straps should provide more satisfaction to the passengers on board. Other changes inside include Porsche Cooperation facility which includes sound bundle and 8-speaker Bose surround sound for ultimate entertainment on board.  Impressive infotainment system equipped with a pretty large 7-inch touch screen with USB and smartphone connectivity. Higher trims get an optional Burmester surround sound system.  Interactive programs introduced by Porsche like a Discussion-management facility. Alcantara furnishings for complete comfort to both driver and passengers.

Competition and Pricing

Macan offers tough completion when it comes to luxury SUVs. The Range Rover Evoque is supposedly more spacious and sensible in performance than Macan. Looks wise, it equals the Porsche as suggested by sources. With more powerful engines, performance wise, the Audi Q5 surpasses the Macan but loses out on overall performance. Cargo space is slightly smaller in 2018 Porsche Macan than the Evoque. Expected to be released at the tail end of 2017, Porsche Macan can be expected to start at $60,000 which might rev up to $104,000 for higher trims.
