2018 Range Rover Sport is Adopting the Coupe-ish Approach

2018 Range Rover Sport is not going to be just another annual refreshment as Land Rover is suspected of adopting the ‘Coupe’ approach on this beloved luxury SUV. In other words, this new-gen Range Rover Sport might be a follow-up of the footsteps of Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW X6.

An early insight…

The images of the prototype model are quite baffling though as there’s no such thing as a coupe-like approach on the rear portion (as seen in Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe). But on the other hand, the rear lift gate appears to be steeply raked although it’s hard to make out given its fake D-pillar disguise.

The prototype model of Range Rover Sport 2018 flaunts wider rear haunches, thinner taillights and sharply angled rear window which gives more than a hint that Land Rover is going to make it somewhat coupe-ish. But it’s just the D-pillar that will signify the wave of change as things are expected to remain pretty much the same from C to A pillar.

Up front, the front fascia of 2018 Range Rover Sport will inherit the signature looks involving sleek headlights and grille that are underswept on the hood. The lower fascia could see some change though as fog light housing cum air intakes are likely to grow bigger.

Powertrain Specs

According to speculations put out by experts, the 3.0 L supercharged V6 is likely to come as a standard engine in Range Rover Sport 2018. This engine will mate to an 8-speed automatic transmission and deliver improved power outputs of 345 HP at 6,500 RPM and 337 lb-ft torque at 3,500 RPM.The turbo-diesel version of this powertrain will also be available in the options. This 3.0 L turbodiesel V6 will be good for producing outputs of more than 447 lb-ft torque and 260 HP.

A 5.0L supercharged V6 will top out the range as it is suspected to churn out 555 HP and 510 lb-ft torque. This powerplant might even cater the 0 to 60 mph run to complete in less than 4.2 seconds. Rest assured, overall fuel economy is suspected to improve as 19 mpg in city, 24 mpg on highway and 21 mpg on a combined scale.

The overall performance will come polished and this new-gen Range Rover Sport is supposed to drive like a sedan with crisp handling characteristics. A revised sport-tuned suspensions also qualify as a high possibility.
